The New Three Mariners
'a warm environment, where modern, reclaimed and antique pieces work together to create a chic but unpretentious luxury'

Brief - To turn around a full refit of this much loved 'local' in 8 weeks!

There are 2 pubs in the village of Laugharne in West Wales that are as loved and as old as the place itself. The challenge was to refresh and reinvigorate what had become a very tired interior without losing the original spirit and feel so beloved by the locals. Situated on an estuary we decided to honour the traditions of it's namesake and evoke the feel of quayside hostelries found on our shores and carried across the Atlantic to Newfoundland, the New England coastline and beyond.

Simple and robust materials of painted tongue and groove wood, slate and unfussy marine fittings were used to create a comfortable, informal and 'undesigned' space. The refit had been the subject of much debate by it's loyal customers, and so it was with some trepidation that we reopened the doors to their home from home one evening in Summer. Fortunately, the good people of Laugharne gave our sensitive rendering the thumbs up and five years on it has retained it's place at the heart of this close knit community.
